Summary

Stroll through the ancient streets of the city, passing the Gothic quarter and Born’s neighbourhood, before heading to the sanctuary of Picasso. Stand in awe, scrutinising the most extensive collections of artworks by the world-famous artist Pablo Picasso, at the grandiose Picasso Museum. Follow his evolution from the more controlled works of his early years to the distorted portraits and whimsical sculptures towards the end of his career. The museum conveys the artist’s relationship with Barcelona and why he chose it to carry his masterpieces before he died.

Meeting Point: Ramblas 54, Barcelona

Departure Time: 08:30 AM

Operating Days:
Daily, except Mon & Sun, April 1 – October 31
Fri & Sat, November 1 – March 31, 2020

Itinerary

The name of Barcelona comes from the Latin language, specifically from Barcino. This was the name the romans gave to their foundation. Some remains of this primitive settlement are still visible at the Gothic Quarter, where you will discover more things about the history of the city through its medieval cobbled and tortuous streets. You will learn more things about some of the most important places in the city, like les Rambles and the Cathedral. The next part of the tour is the Born’s neighbourhood, where you will enjoy the fabulous view of Santa Maria del Mar church, built in a superb gothic style. Between narrow streets, find the Picasso Museum. This is the only museum that has been created whilst the painter was still alive, and it’s an interesting place to appreciate the beginning of his career. During the guided tour, you will understand Picasso’s artistic evolution, always in parallel to his biography. For those people who bought the tour without the breakfast option, the visit will finish here. You are free to remain inside the building as long as you wish. For those people who bought the tour with the breakfast option, continue your visit going to the Old Born’s Market, where the tour will finish.
